The Long-Term Care Service of Taoyuan supports caregiver burden from father

Based on the statistics of the Taoyuan City Care Management Center, among all the families receiving long-term care service, 40% of the primary caregivers are male. On the eve of Father’s Day, the Department of Public Health, Taoyuan encouraged that, under the social expectation that a man should better himself, the long-term care service resource can be appropriately utilized, e.g. care and professional services, transportation services, auxiliary appliance and home accessibility improvement services, and respite care services. These services help the primary caregiver balance being a son and father, as well as taking care of the caregiver’s own mind and body health.

Mr. Liu takes care of his 87-year-old father, and at the same time is father to three children. He thanked the Taoyuan City Long-Term Management Center for helping him in applying home services, professional services, and respite care services. For more than 3 years, the care personnel have assisted the father in home services, professional care personnel have taught the father to move physically, and now the father can carry out easy housework, and has gradually regained self-confidence and recognition. On the other hand, the respite care service has provided the primary caregiver short-term relief, enabling Mr. Liu to take a much-needed break, and at the same time fulfill his duty as a father himself. Mr. Liu has claimed that the long-term service is the best Father’s Day gift for him.
